Exactly!, now imagine everyone using bots making it so you can't gain any money off of farming because any new player is able to do it.
Where would you get your money from then? I think you liked the fact bots weren't legal because it made them scarce and gave you high rewards for farming because of the majority playing it the right way.

So people adapt to the economy and increase prices on things like mission/dungeon runs to accommodate it.

And because it made them scarce? Why would I want that? I am not a power-trading shitstain who wants to keep things away from everyone else. Quite the opposite; you do know that I've advocated a PvP equipment system for PvE several times in the past to eliminate farming and "wealth" in Guild Wars, right?
|
So you want a game where everyone has everything and there's 0 prestige.

Advocating a PvP style equipment system is a noble idea, but you participate in a blatant means of garnering in game wealth. bit contradictory IMO. By botting you did keep things away from everyone else by promoting a style of "play" that an honest player would not use, thereby driving up prices (putting the rare items, plat, ectos in the hands of only the ultra rich fellow botters) and making all the goods you gained by illicit behavior untouchable (more so since those items are now removed from the game). this is a bad argument for supporting botting as a meta practice(3700 accounts is a tiny fraction of the active player base).

Secondly, I did not buy any rare items. The most rare thing I've owned is a Q13 voltaic spear given to me as a gift by an old guild leader who left the game.
I don't see how prices are driven up by bringing more gold into the game and then spending that on sweet tooth / party animal items, which are designed to be consumed.

Zahr, this is about botters as a whole, just because you set limitations with your usage, does not mean that someone using the exact same bot as you will do the same, see my point? one man restricts his use, the next person says F*** that and goes all out, would that not mean more policing for this game? perhaps a limit on the type of bots? so a new system of rules is born, with new rules come new rule breakers... the cycle repeats in expanding waves, when does it stop? when all non botters quit? wow GW2 will be a blast when we have to activly participate with people that forget how to play...

The only grind in the game is what you imagine on yourself. The HoM was designed to have a reward for every play style so everyone's favorite meta would have a reward, your choice to get it all is your own greed and the fact that you saw cheating as an option for it is even worse.
You botting for money for party/sweet title is funny because what other use do those titles have other than prestige?

Botting was meta if 3700 people got banned for it bro... lawl.

A lot of people play GW1, and the game isn't dying, so... yeh, keep making up things in your head and claiming them as fact. This isn't an awareness post, as it contains no fact. So... yeh... just no.
Botters weren't players, they were cheaters. GoodBYE!!!!!

My post count exceeds yours, I I disagree. By this logic, my opinion is greater than yours in importance and correctness.
Bots don't belong in a game. Any excuse you can come up with as to why they do is bull, and isn't correct. Bots are against the rules, they are cheating, period, end of story. If you bot, you get banned. If you get banned, you QQ about it. Bots are evil, and those who use them are evil cheating scum. They deserved to be banned, if not for botting, than simply for being stupid enough to believe that botting was ok.

ok, to clarify post count and age of account are not qualifiers to how valid a point is ( long time lurker of these same forums well before my join date, seldom responder until lately because few things have so inspired me to post. thats changing methinks ). To the point Ninja is just trolly by nature, lets try to keep that in mind in all this

ok, not the ever popular Dying 5 year old game thing again, sarcasm or not this is getting boring. this is by far a thriving 5 year old game, botting , pro or con has little to do with the age of the game, bergan bots? citidel bots? shall we go on? bringing up age/population argument can't possibly be a valid point , as botting and this game are intertwined...please post an original (meaning not the canned response to why things are bad/good/ indifferent in game) idea about this topic please. we are all willing to listen, but to the same drivel? nty

Hardly foolproof when you wake up the next morning to find you got permabanned for harassment, apparently the entirety of Lion's Arch district one didn't appreciate you chasing them around and humping their legs non stop over a period of nearly eight hours.

I would just like to add, against the notion that the raptor-farming bot hurts no one:
Many people who manually farmed cupcakes (and seldom got more than 10 stacks) this month were complaining the other day about raptor-farming bots flooding the market and therefore making it impossible for them to sell their hard-won goods at anything but a ridiculous price to be competitive. Human players have to stop to eat, rest their eyes, sleep, etc. once in a while. Bots don't.
Many folks, including me, find small-time trading fun. (That's how I can afford basically whatever I want in the game without farming btw.) Bots price us out of the market, in the same way that big corps like Wal-Mart price out small businesses. Not everyone who bots plays the market as well, but I think its fair to say that most do, and that it would be near impossible for Anet to sort the bot accounts that trade from the ones that don't.
I agree that a perma-ban for pve botting is harsh, but to say that botting can ever be a completely innocent activity is missing the point imo.

Quality over quantity and sometimes I respond to 5 people at once to save posting.
I've barely even posted since this ban wave and if your really interested check my post history.

Is there a reason for threads like this to stay open? Someone gets butthurt over a ban and brings it on guru to get a flame war going. Nothing to discuss in the thread when we know the guy was in the wrong.
